PROJECT FUSION
PROJEKTBESCHREIBUNG (scroll down for the english PROJECT DESCRIPTION)
PRPJECT DESCRIPTION
Project Fusion is a collaborative project/performance created by the A-Fortiori group. The group was established by three artists from three different countries who joined forces and visions to practice the idea of true seamless collaboration, extend each others creative horizons and teach through performances and workshops. A FORTIORI creates interdisciplinary objects and installations.
Lighting and Scenic Designer Fereshteh Rostapour, originally from Tehran, Prague Costume and Scenic Designer Markéta Fantová and Berlin Choreographer and Dancer Karola Lüttringhaus rigorously devise collaborations with which they dare to enter new realms of expression and technical applications. They take on purely visual and conceptual topics as well as political and social themes.
The A FORTIORI GROUP seeks challenges through and in the fusion of human insight and the complexity of human expressiveness. A FORTIORI is inspired by and enjoys the flow and meshing of visual and acoustic components. PROJECT FUSION will be devised in January of 2011 and premiered in Prague in June of 2011.
The object that A Fortiori will create for Project FUSION is freestanding within a room or environment. At the same time it is uniquely embedded into it's environment. This installation will be given life through interactive components, such as dancers, actors, video-projections, lights and sound art. The object is large enough to house several people at the same time. It has a visceral and organic character. Walls and surfaces offer places for people to sit, or lie down. The viewer is invited to contribute to the piece, to leave something behind, a letter, a picture (which will be taken on site), something personal. Within the sculpture the visitor has the ability to record and play back his/her voice, adding to the sound collage. The installation is in constant flux. It becomes the mirror of the people that visit it and therefore has strong intercultural and international as well as individually human traits. The word 'fusion' describes the seed for this installation, which is to look inquisitively at our current world where organic and artificial is now so fused together that it is near impossible to tell them apart. We are trying to give a mirror to our society and its obsessions, oddities and voices. We want to reflect on individual lives within our society, urban or rural. We offer visitors a place to be inspired and in turn inspire others through their feedback.
We will be using materials similar in texture and appearance yet opposing in its origin, such as different kinds of clear plastics, paper, animal gut, leather etc.; some very organic some very artificial, yet difficult to tell apart. Out of these materials we will create a small universe of a physical performance. We want to look for images, which perhaps not in a rational way, will awaken the feeling of being alive here and now, images born out of our current world of a highly mediatised global society. So as not to add to the trash in the world, the materials used are largely recyclables and found objects. The environment within which the object is created influences its character, such as shape and materials but also content. Premises that can house this installation are galleries, rooms, theatres, factory halls, etc. The possibilities are endless. The installation can remain set-up for as long as is desired by the presenter. It will be created anew in every location visited. PROJECT FUSION has a performance and a workshop component, incorporating local professionals as well as non-dancers, young and old who are chosen by audition and will work collaboratively with A FORTIORI over the course a several weeks. Performances can take place once or several times during the course of the project.
